Lupine A Favorite Maine Wildflower

These wild flowers grow in large patches in unused fields, near by water and along side roads all across Maine.
Lupines are bi-annuals. The seeds from this years plants will sprout in the late summer making sturdy plants by fall. Those seedlings will bloom the following June.
Lupines flower in shades of purple, blue, pink and occasionally white. The shades of purple and blue are the most prevalent in this area. Many are bicolored. They all have a light sweet scent. Lupines are one of Maine's most outstanding wild flowers !
