All Summer Beauty Hydrangea

All Summer Beauty Hydrangea ( macrophylla - Mophead ) growing in a zone 5 garden. This hydrangea has beautiful blue blossoms that last and last when left on the plant. It continues to make new flowers during the summer. In the fall the flowers dry right on the plant and turn many shades of pink and lavender

Nikko Blue Hydrangea


The Nikko Hydrangea ( macrophylla - Mophead ) may not get as many flowers here as the All Summer Beauty but they are big, very big and a gorgeous sky blue.
The Nikko Hydrangea blooms on last years wood here so there are naturally not as many flowers. No fall pruning for this one!
The Nikko Blue Hydrangea can also be pink as shown in the picture at left. This plant was watered with alkaline well water turning some of the flowers pink. The flowers came back blue the next year after being planted in acidic ground. It now recieves only rainwater. No additives were used, planted with evergreen trees.
